I spent more than a month trying to complete this novel. The English translation was until Chapter 81 as I am penning this review. Thereafter, I started reading the Chinese version from Chapter 82 onwards. English Translation updates for this book was not very frequent though.

This is a system novel.

~Synopsis from Novel Updates ~

Chi Xiaochi: fourth-rate citizen at birth, three-time award-winning film emperor, second-rate temper, first-class looks. He crawled his way out of hell on hard mode to become a winner at life.

Then, he was smashed into a vegetative state by a chandelier.

061: Hello, here’s a brief rundown on the scum gong reconditioning system. This system measures the regret level of the scum gong. Every time their regret level reaches one hundred points, you will be able to leave the current world. A friendly tip, usually, through dedication and self-sacrifice, our employees slowly foster a sense of dependency in the scum gongs, gradually making it so the scum gongs can’t live without them.

Chi Xiaochi: How many regret points is a complete loss of reputation and standing worth? How about a fall from grace? Or wanting something but never being able to obtain it?

061: ……

~My Review of this novel~

I only read until Chapter 211 and due to the stale and not so exciting storyline, I couldn’t bring myself to plough through the Chinese text and complete the novel after reading it for more than one month. Personally I didn’t find the worlds exciting since it follows a standard formula.

Chi Xiao Chi helps the incumbent “Shou” take revenge on the scum “gong” and he and his system 061 goes off to the next world.

As expected, system 061 was the love interest of Chi Xiao Chi, yet due to haphephobia, he needed time to sort out his feelings which caused their intimacy plan to drag for a long time. But CXC, hadn’t you waited long enough to be reunited with the person whom you wanted most? Why are you still holding back?

I had a few grouse about this novel:

1. MC Chi Xiao Chi has haphephobia (fear of touching or being touched) so skinship is kept to a minimum except with the ML who is the system 061.

2. Although the MC and ML cared a lot for each other, I couldn’t feel that  deep connection and love between the 2 main characters. Although at times, the author wrote that the ML can’t wait to hug CXC and “do” him… but from the MC point of view, I don’t seem to read any love longing for ML. All MC was concerned with was to finish the world so that he could collect his reward and be together with ML forever.

3. At some point of the novel, after completing one world (10 worlds altogether), the MC rested for a while before starting into the next world soon after. I just felt that the author missed punctuating the between worlds with some romantic or intimate time together between the MC and ML.

4. The outcome of every world is expected. It’s like following some kind of standard formula. The scum gong is gotten rid of if his heart is really black beyond repair. For the scum gong who repented and learnt to love, he is given a second chance with the incumbent “Shou”.

I didn’t feel excited reading this novel nor hooked by the stories even though the ending was a happy one. Emotionally, I didn’t feel that  boy love between the MC and ML was that intense. More like it got more boring and predictable.

I’ll rate this novel 2.5/5. Nevertheless, some readers at Novel Updates gave 5 stars for this novel. So there is a possibility that you might like this novel.
